In September 2011, Lixiong Niu (牛立雄) joined Matrix Partners China and started his career as an analyst. Lixiong Niu became the Partner at Matrix Partners China in January 2019.

In his second year at Matrix Partners China, he was solely responsible for his first investment, China Reading Hold（掌文信息）, a content platform company that focused on network literature. China Reading Hold was acquired by a publicly listed company and brought the fund with more than 10 times of return.

Beginning from 2013, Lixiong Niu devoted his mind to education sector; he led to invest in Yuanfudao, FENBI and VIPKID, which are three unicorn companies valued at billions of US dollars. He also invested in KaoChong, Hualala and other leading companies with full of potentials in education sector.

Except education, frontier technology is Lixiong’s current focus investment areas, as well as new materials and biological breeding.

Prior to his career of being an investor, Lixiong Niu was the deputy Chief Editor at NetEase Technology Channel. He has gained much reputation and influence in media sector as a journalist.

Lixiong Niu was awarded a bachelor’s degree with double major in Labor and Social Security, and Economic News Reporting, by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He’s passionate about watching films and travelling in his spare time.
